Not sure if this truly fits in the vector category, because parts of it are rasterised - however, the majority of it wa done in Illustrator, by hand (then taken into Photoshop and edited). Just sort of experimenting with different styles, if you read this - please give a quick comment, suggestions on what works and doesn't work, what you would change or do differently in the image. Thanks a lot, hope your Christmas is going good.
PS: Thanks to my friend Andy for unwittingly modelling the sipping man.
hey there... i think i just added you to my watch, without even noticing this piece. sheer brilliance - the backgrounds, using photos as fills, the colours and the stances are all fantastic.
if you weren't already on it, i'd be adding you to my watch right now
There's a number of different styles here - but I think it really works. I love the use of the bitmaps for the tee-shirt and so on, that is very cool. The different styles give it a kind of early pop-art feel. - nice work
I noticed that you did not make a three dimensional effect with the water in the glass, though you did with the base of the glass, and that thumb needs to look more connected to the rest of the hand. How about shortening the thumb? It might look better without poking out the other side of the glass, because it seems too long. How about making wavey effects on the thumb due to the water reflection? Just an idea.
The girl in the corner is great, and I really like the textures on the clothes. Well done-you should link your next works!

Woah, In all my time reviewing art, i have NEVER seen somehting like this...and i quite like it! Since I am critiquing, Ill get to it right away. This is a new style of art, i have never seen, therefore imperfections are lovley. The design is great, and the mixture of vector and textures is magnificent. That blend is somehting that, if exposed enough, I am sure it will catch on. The girl in the backround is awesome, and loks great. The tiling is a bit weird, and does not follow perspective or angle, try fixing that up a bit. Also, smoke would look great from the ciggerate. Behind the tile, there is 2 red lines that is probally some type of mistake, see if you want to fix that. Also, the arrows don't seem right, but that may just be me. Fore some reason i like the red outling one the body, usually i dont, its a nice touch. And those textures are magnificent, i love the look you got goin on the guy drinking. I am not sure about the line above the eye brows, but i guess you added depth, so thats all good. Both hands are pretty good, but I would suggest adding a visable thumb. I also like the transision between the two parts of the image, but I am a bit confused with the chain. It is a good linking piece, but if you would make it actually show what it was linking to, I think it would be cool. Something like a fence on one side, and handcuffs on the other? Just a thought. I dont know why you put the blood on the arms, but if you like it, keep it. Again, the textures are awesome! But, I am sure you guessed, I would love to see a face on that second figure. The arrows are a bit weird also on the right side, but the tiling is much better. I really like the chair, no comments there. Over all, this is an awesome piece. With one more draft, I think you will be getting an A+. Remember, Its not my call about what i suggested, if you disagree, let that be the end of it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
